ThesisGrowing up in a big city, I have learned to appreciate the visual appeal of linear forms based on a grid. The environment that surrounds me has been congested with clutter. My work addresses the possible outcome of this fast paced, industrialized mecca. I experiment with a balance of familiar and unrecognizable forms existing in a three- dimensional weightless environment, placing recognizable objects and forms in a foreign surrealist setting. I explore multiple mediums within my work, in order to achieve a multilayered picture plane. By creating a primary layer with pencil, pen and Xerox transfers, I am initiating the groundwork of the grid-based forms. I then use spray paint and other materials to generate transient shapes, playing with perspective and creating depth in the atmospheric pieces. The result is a mixture of surreal landscapes, linear sketches, and three-dimensional renderings strewn onto paper. | ![]() 1 | ![]() 2 | ![]() 3 | ![]() 4 | ![]() 5 |
